SYMPTOMSAfter you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 to Windows 2000, you may find that some files are missing. CAUSEWhen you upgrade from Windows 95/98 to Windows 2000, Setup deletes all of the operating system files associated Windows 95/98. This action is not limited to just the Windows folder. Setup identifies all Windows 95/98 operating system files on all of the computer's partitions and physical disks during the upgrade to Windows 2000. STATUSThis behavior is by design. MORE INFORMATIONThis behavior may cause installation problems when a local folder is used to install various programs. If the folder contains any files associated with Windows 95/98, they may be deleted. In addition, some files that are located in a program's folder may be deleted. For example, the Oleaut32.dll and Olepro32.dll files included with Microsoft Office are actually Windows 95/98 files and are removed. All Windows 95/98 operating system files are removed during the upgrade to Windows 2000, no matter where they are located on your computer. Additional query words:
