When you do not configure your computer to be a part of a domain, you may not be prompted for a user name and password when Windows starts.

To configure Windows to prompt you for a user name and password, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Users and Passwords.


  3. Click to select the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer check box, and then click OK.


  4. Restart your computer.
