SYMPTOMSAfter you run the Dcpromo tool and choose to create a new tree in an existing forest, a pre-configured Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in is created under Administrative Tools. When you start this snap-in, the context is set to the forest rather than to the new tree. RESOLUTIONTo work around this issue to show the new tree, right-click the domain, and then click Connect to Domain. STATUSThis behavior is by design. MORE INFORMATIONThis only occurs when you are logged on as an administrator for the forest. Windows 2000 defaults to the domain of the user who is currently logged on, not the local domain.
