SYMPTOMSYou do not have the option to disable IRQ steering in Device Manager on a Windows 2000-based computer with Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) support installed. CAUSEFully compliant ACPI computers with ACPI support installed in Windows 2000 do not require this option because of the nature of the ACPI specification. RESOLUTIONContact your motherboard or PC manufacturer for an updated ACPI-compliant BIOS. STATUSThis behavior is by design. MORE INFORMATIONIn Windows 2000 on non-ACPI-compliant computers, the ability to disable IRQ steering may help resolve problems with loading devices. The majority of cases that require this opton involve legacy Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 drivers installed in Windows 2000.
