Disabled Binding Does Not Migrate After Upgrade to Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

If Netmon tools and agent service binding is disabled before you upgrade from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000, binding is enabled after the upgrade.


CAUSE

This problem can occur because if upgrade process was unable to find the binding path to determine if the binding was disabled or not.


RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, manually disable binding of Netmon tools and agent after completing the upgrade.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
