Clicking Play in DVD Player Has No Effect

SYMPTOMS

If you let a DVD movie play until the end, and then eject it and insert a new disk, or flip the disk because it is double sided, clicking Play may have no effect.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs because DVD Player (Dvdplay.exe) is unable to determine whether playback has ended on some DVD movies.


RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, click Stop and then click Play, or quit and restart DVD Player.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
