SYMPTOMS
When you restart a computer running Windows 2000 server, you may receive the following error message:
***STOP: 0x000000CE (0xF6085AC3, 0x00000000, 0xF6085AC3,0x00000000)
DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATION
This Driver May be at Fault: NWRDR.SYS
CAUSE
This issue can occur if you disable the Gateway Service for NetWare and Client Services for NetWare services.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, enable the Gateway Services for NetWare and the Client Services for NetWare services or uninstall the Directory Migration tool. To do this, use the appropriate method:
Enable Gateway Services for Netware and Client Services for NetWare
To enable the NetWare services, follow these steps:
- Restart your computer, when you see the Windows NT Startup menu press the F8 key.
- From the Startup menu, use the ARROW keys to choose Safe Mode With Networking, and then press ENTER.
- On the Logon Information dialog box, type your user name and password, and then click OK.
- On the Windows Desktop, right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
- Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
- Click to select the Gateway Service For NetWare, Client Service For NetWare, and NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Protocol check boxes, and then click OK.
- Shut down and restart your computer.
Remove the Directory Migration Tool
To remove the Directory Migration tool, follow these steps:
- Restart your computer, when you see the Windows NT Startup menu press the F8 key.
- From the Startup menu, use the ARROW keys to choose Safe Mode With Networking, and then press ENTER.
- On the Logon Information dialog box, type your user name and password, and then click OK.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
- In the Windows Components Wizard, click Next.
- Click Management and Monitoring Tools, and then click Details.
- Click to clear the Directory Service Migration Tool check box, and then click OK.
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
- Shut down and restart your computer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
