Err Msg: Session ID [Session Number] Remote Control Failed

SYMPTOMS

When you try to control a remote session using Windows 2000 Server Terminal Services, you may receive the following error message:

Session ID [session number] remote control failed.
(Error 7075 - An attempt has been made to connect to a session whose video mode is not supported by the current client.)


CAUSE

This issue can occur if you try to shadow a client computer using the incorrect screen resolution.

For example, this error message occurs if the client session you shadow is using a 1024x768 screen area, and you are using an 800x600 screen area.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue disconnect the client, and then connect to the Windows 2000 Terminal Services server using the same screen resolution as the client computer you want to shadow.


STATUS

This functionality is by design.
