Unexpected Reboot After Pressing F6 for Third-Party SCSI Driver

SYMPTOMS

When you are running Setup using the four Setup boot floppy disks and you press F6 to load a third-party SCSI driver, the computer may reboot when you press Next to continue.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Setup is looking for Setup disk 3. If Setup disk 3 is not located, Setup restarts the computer when you press ENTER.


RESOLUTION

Insert disk 3 before you press ENTER if you have pressed F6 to load a third-party SCSI driver and you are using the four Setup boot disks.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
