When you attempt to upgrade Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3, you receive the following error message:

The version of Windows running is not supported. Setup can only upgrade official releases. Setup will now exit.

After you receive this message, Setup quits.

Upgrading Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3 is not supported.

This behavior is by design.
