SYMPTOMSWhen you are running Setup in Unattended mode, you may be prompted during the text-mode portion of Setup to select the installation partition. CAUSEThis behavior occurs if the AutoPartition value in the [Data] section of the Setup-generated Winnt.sif file is set to 0 instead of 1. This occurs when unattended Setup is initiated using Winnt32.exe using a local CD-ROM as the source for the installation files. An automated installation started over the network using Winnt32.exe does not prompt for the installation partition. RESOLUTIONThis behavior should not affect many installations. However, if you want to use this method, you can edit the $win_nt$.~bt\winnt.sif file (or the $win_nt$.~ls\winnt.sif file for Alpha-based computers) and change the value of the AutoPartition value to 1. MORE INFORMATION
The Winnt.sif file is generated by Setup. When you supply an unattended answer file, it is merged with this file. The file is located in the $win_nt$.~bt folder on the boot drive. Additional query words: autopartition textmode stops Unattended Setup Install
