STOP 0x7B Installing Windows 2000 Professional to Mirror Volume

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows 2000 Professional to a volume that was Mirrored using Windows 2000 Server, you receive the following error message:

STOP 0x0000007B Inaccessible boot device.


CAUSE

This issue occurs because Windows 2000 Professional does not support mirror volumes.


RESOLUTION

To prevent this error message, start Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Server Setup and remove the mirror volume. You can also delete all volumes from both mirrored drives during the textmode portion of Setup.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
