Daylight Saving Time Option Is Not Retained While Installing Windows 2000

ID: Q235417

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SYMPTOMS

During the Windows 2000 installation process, a dialog box appears prompting you to set the time zone. By default the Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes check box in this dialog box is selected. If you clear the check box and then select a different time zone, the check box is selected again.

CAUSE

The Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes option is enabled by default for all time zones that support Daylight Saving Time (DST). If you select a different time zone, the default setting for that time zone is used.

Note that this behavior does not occur during a Windows 2000 upgrade. You are not prompted for the time zone during an upgrade.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
