SYMPTOMS

When you start your Windows 2000-based computer using the "Safe Mode with Networking" startup option, resources on IPX-only networks are unreachable.

CAUSE

The "Safe Mode with Networking" option starts Windows 2000 using only basic files and drivers, plus network connections. The NWLink protocol is not enumerated when you boot using this mode.

RESOLUTION

TCP/IP and NetBEUI are both supported in "Safe Mode with Networking" mode. If you want to use "Safe Mode with Networking" mode, you may want to have your network configured to use TCP/IP or NetBEUI.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
