SYMPTOMSWindows 2000 may stop responding (hang) at the splash screen or may not start properly or exhibit a STOP error message when you attempt to run Adaptec's Easy CD Creator versions 3.5b or DirectCD 3.0 and earlier. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because Easy CD Creator (versions 3.5b or earlier), and Aspi32.sys (versions 4.01 and earlier) and its Cdr4vsd.sys driver that is loaded during boot, are not compatible with Windows 2000. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, boot into the Recovery Console and log on to the Windows 2000-based computer that is exhibiting the problem using the following steps:

Adaptec has an updated Cdr4vsd.sys driver and a beta software update for Easy CD Creator version 3.5c. There is also additional information about running Easy CD Creator on Windows 2000 at the aforementioned Adaptec Web site. DirectCD is not currently supported in Windows 2000. Installing DirectCD may cause the computer to hang.
