SYMPTOMSWhen you are using Remote Installation Service (RIS) to install a Riprep.exe image of Windows 2000 on a client computer, you may receive the following error message during the text-mode portion of Setup:
CAUSE
When a Riprep image is copied to a RIS server, existing NTFS file and folder permissions are kept by creating an alternate NTFS data stream named $SYSPREP on the file or folder. The file or folder attributes and security information are kept in this alternate data stream so that they can be reapplied during subsequent installations. RESOLUTIONBecause this behavior is most likely caused by file corruption on the RIS server, it is probably best to re-create the image or run the chkdsk /f command against the RIS volume on which the image is stored to determine if there is any additional corruption. You can also try one of the following methods:
