SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 2000, the bottom portion of the display may not be visible on the monitor. For example, you may not be able to see the taskbar.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the default video refresh rate that Windows 2000 uses is different from the refresh rate that you were using previously.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

Select a different refresh rate:
  1. Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.

  2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

  3. Click the Monitor tab.

  4. In the Refresh Frequency box, click another refresh rate, and then click OK.

  5. Click OK to test the new refresh rate.

  6. If the entire screen is visible, click Yes. If the entire screen is not visible, click No, and then repeat steps 4-6.

Method 2

On some monitors, you can adjust the screen size and position so that the entire screen is visible. For information about adjusting the screen size and resolution on your monitor, refer to the documentation included with your monitor.
