SYMPTOMSWhen you install Windows 2000 on a computer that has an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) attached, the computer may go into Battery mode. CAUSEThis behavior occurs during Setup when the serial enumeration driver (Serunum.sys) attempts to detect what exists on the serial ports. The UPS is started when the driver touches the serial port. RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, disconnect the serial cable from the UPS during Setup. The problem does not occur after Setup is finished. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. Additional query words:
