The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SUMMARY

When you choose the paper source you want to use to print, you receive two options:

  • Automatically Select
  • Auto Select

MORE INFORMATION

Automatically Select, the default paper source, means the server uses the printer's Form to Tray assignment to choose which tray/paper source is used.

Auto Select, means the server sends a command to the printer and chooses the correct tray based on the size of the area you want to print.

To find the two options, open the printer properties, and then click Printing Properties on the General tab. On the Paper/Quality tab, scroll through the Paper Source choices. This changes this session only.

To change the default selection, click the Advanced tab in Printer properties, and then click Printing Defaults. On the Paper/Quality tab, click the paper tray you want.
