SUMMARY

Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) is a set of standard protocols that allow remote access software from different manufacturers to interoperate. A PPP-enabled connection can dial into remote networks through any industry-standard PPP server. PPP also permits a computer running Windows 2000 Server Remote Access Services (RAS) to receive calls from, and provide network access to, other manufacturers' remote access software that complies with the PPP standards.

Windows 2000 PPP always attempts to negotiate multi-link for single-link connections.

You can disable the the Negotiate multi-link for single link connections setting for PPP only by modifying the registry.
