SYMPTOMS

When a program is published or assigned to a user who uses a roaming profile and that program is installed on several computers the roaming user logs on to, the program is uninstalled on all of the computer the user logs on to if the user uninstalls the program on any computer. After the user logs on, the user cannot use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to install the program that was just uninstalled.

CAUSE

When a user is configured to use a roaming profile, the set of programs stays consistent across all computers the user logs on to. Uninstalling a program on one computers affects all the other computers on which the user has installed the program. Depending on the settings in Group Policy, the user may not be able to reinstall the program until the next reboot.

RESOLUTION

Depending on the deployment state, restarting the computer allows for re-advertisement in the Add/Remove Programs tool, or assignment can cause the program to be reinstalled.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
