SUMMARY
If you install Recovery Console while an installation of Windows 2000 is in progress, you cannot continue with the installation. Installing Recovery Console while the other installation is in progress deletes necessary files from the $win_nt$.~bt folder. This does not allow the existing Setup process to be completed. You can install Recovery Console from within another operating system if you experience a problem that prevents Setup from continuing. MORE INFORMATION
This behavior does not occur if you boot with the Windows 2000 CD-ROM or use the four boot floppy disks to start Recovery Console. Booting directly from the four boot floppy disks or the Windows 2000 CD-ROM to start Recovery Console does not require that files be written to the drive. Therefore, the Setup files are not replaced and are available after you make repairs. It may then be possible to resume Setup.
