External ATAPI PCMCIA CD-ROM Drive Fails to Install on Compaq Armada 7330

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install an external ATAPI Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) CD-ROM drive on a Compaq Armada 7330 portable computer running Windows 2000 Professional, the PCMCIA CD-ROM drive does not work. Windows 2000 correctly installs the integrated device electronics (IDE) controller, but does not recognize the CD-ROM drive.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.
