Compact Disc Change Not Recognized When You Pause Compact Disc Player Program

ID: Q244475

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

SYMPTOMS

When you pause the playing of an audio compact disc (CD) in the CD Player program on a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, press the eject button on the CD-ROM drive, and then insert a new CD, Windows 2000 may not recognize the new CD.

When this occurs, the CD Player program may still list track names and numbers from the previous audio CD or may not play the new audio CD. If the disc is a data CD-ROM, Windows 2000 may not play the CD-ROM automatically or may not display the files it contains in Windows Explorer or in My Computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, click Stop in the CD Player program before you eject a CD, click Eject to eject it, and then insert the new CD.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
