You can install and configure multiple video adapters in Windows 2000. If you do so, you can expand your desktop to more than one monitor. You can then use the Display tool in Control Panel to adjust the layout of your monitors.

In a multiple-monitor configuration, the Settings tab in the Display tool in Control Panel contains icons that represent your monitors. Using the mouse, you can drag the icons to positions that represent the physical layout of your monitors. Or, you can place the icons in any arrangement that represents how you will move items among the monitors. For example, you can place the icons one above the other even though your monitors are side by side.

You can also move the icons by selecting an icon with the mouse and then moving the icon with the arrow keys on your keyboard. When you move the icons in this manner, they "snap" into a grid pattern of between 24 and 32 pixels.

When you are using different size monitors or different screen area (resolution) settings, finer icon placement may be required to achieve the display you want. Drag the icons with the mouse while holding down the CTRL key for adjustments in a grid pattern of approximately 8 pixels.
