Mappings Do Not Take Effect Immediately in Internet Information Server

SYMPTOMS

When you restore client certificate mappings in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) from a backup on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, the mappings do not take effect immediately.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because you must restart the Internet Information Services Administration (Iisadmin) utility for the restored mappings to take effect.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, restart the Iisadmin utility after you restore the client certificate mappings from the backup.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
