Alpha, MIPS, or PowerPC Printer Drivers Not Installed from Source CD-ROM

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to add Alpha, MIPS, or PowerPC drivers to a print server running Windows 2000 for point and print functionality, you cannot install the printer drivers from the CD-ROM.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Ntprint.inf file on the CD-ROM is in a compressed format and cannot be read.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, expand the Ntprint.inf file to the hard disk, and then install the printer drivers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
