Some Accessibility Options Require a Logon for Automatic Reset

ID: Q244937

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

The Automatic Reset feature in the Accessibility Options tool in Control Panel does not work with the following settings until the next logon:

  • High Contrast
  • Filter Keys
  • Sound Sentry
  • Show Sounds
Although the accessibility setting that you specify works, it does not automatically reset at the specified time.

This occurs only once. If you select the High Contrast option and then log on, Windows reverts to the regular settings after the specified period of time without usage elapses. If you reset the High Contrast option, the automatic reset does not work until the next logon.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
