  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you are installing the Hewlett-Packard (HP) 3100-series printer software on a computer that is running the Epson Stylus Print Monitor software, the spooler may exit or cause an "Access violation" error message during the "Updating the system" portion of the HP Setup program, resulting in an unsuccessful installation of the driver.

CAUSE

The HP Setup routine calls the ExitProcess function against the spooler. The resulting shutdown of the spooler causes the Epson Stylus Print Monitor software to stop working and invoke the Dr. Watson tool.
