  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install a printer driver from the \Printers\Nt4\I386 folder on the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM, you may receive Driver signature dialog box that says the source of the driver cannot be confirmed.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if there is no .cat file for the legacy drivers. You can click Yes to close the dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the appropriate Windows 2000 printer driver using the Add Printer Wizard, or clicking Have Disk.

MORE INFORMATION

You can add Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 printer drivers for Point and Print functionality using the Sharing tab after you install the primary printer driver correctly.

If a Windows 2000 printer driver is available, do not use the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 printer drivers as the primary printer drivers in Windows 2000.
