SYMPTOMSWhen you start a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, with a 3Com/U.S. Robotics 56K Plug and Play fax/modem installed, the system bugchecks during the startup process, and you receive the following error message:
CAUSEThis behavior occurs because the Intel multiprocessor specification table does not contain entries for peripheral component interconnect (PCI) devices, such as this modem, and Windows 2000 does not correctly map the interrupt request level (IRQL).
