SYMPTOMSWhen you use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server to assign Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to clients on a private network, you cannot assign a static IP address to a Windows 2000-based computer. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because the DHCP allocator is hard-coded to use the network address 192.168.0.x with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 for private network IP addresses, and does not provide an option for using statically assigned IP addresses. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Additional query words: internal
