  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a document on your Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5MP PostScript printer using True Type fonts that are downloaded as a Type42 (outline) font, the printer may only print a portion of the document. Also, the printer may print a page indicating the printer is out of memory.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the printer does not have enough memory to complete the Type42 font download. When the printer tries to allocate space for the font download, the printer over-runs its memory.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:

Method 1

Add more physical memory to the printer. For information about how to do so, view the documentation included with your printer.

Method 2

Change the True Type Font Download Option to Outline or Bitmap:
  1. Double-click My Computer, and then double-click Printers.

  2. Right-click your HP LaserJet 5MP PostScript printer, and then click Properties.

  3. Click Printing Preferences, click Layout, and then click Advanced.

  4. Click PostScript Options, and click Outline or Bitmap in the True Type Font Download box.

  5. Close Printer Properties, and then close My Computer.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
