SYMPTOMSWhen you start Windows 2000 on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Pavilion 6530 computer, the mouse pointer may not work. CAUSEThis behavior can occur if the BIOS setting for the PS/2 mouse on the HP Pavilion 6530 computer is set to Auto-Detect (the default setting). If you suspend and then resume the computer, the mouse works again. RESOLUTIONTo work around this issue, set the PS/2 BIOS setting to Enable instead of Auto-Detect. MORE INFORMATION
This problem may also apply to other laptops experiencing these symptoms (or similar symptoms). For other laptops with similar BIOS settings, you can change the BIOS setting from Auto-Detect to Enable (or a similar setting) to attempt to work around the problem. Consult the manufacturer's documentation for more information regarding PS/2 BIOS settings for your computer.
