ID: Q249911

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0, Terminal Server Edition

SUMMARY

This article explains how to reset the license information that Terminal Server License Manager displays by renaming Hydra.mdb and then extracting it from the CD to your Terminal Server installation.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Stop the Terminal Server Licensing service:

    1. In Control Panel, double-click Services.

    2. Click Terminal Server Licensing, and then click Stop.

  2. In Windows NT Explorer, rename Hydra.mdb to Hydra.old.

NOTE: The default location of the file Hydra.mdb is the \Wtsrv\System32\Lserver folder. If you installed Terminal Server in some other folder, look there for Hydra.mdb, in the \System32\Lserver folder.

  3. Expand Hydra.md_ from the Terminal Server installation CD into the \Wtsrv\System32\Lserver folder, as in the following example
    Expand E:\I386\Hydra.md_ c:\Wtsrv\System32\Lserver\Hydra.mdb
where E is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.

  4. Start the Terminal Server Licensing service in Control Panel.
