SUMMARY

The Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 1200C accepts envelopes through the adjustable manual feeder on top of the printer. Feed the envelopes face up (flap down) in landscape orientation on the left side of the feeder.

NOTE: When you face the printer, the envelope position is physically on the right, but if you face the direction the envelope feeds, the envelope position is on the left.

In Word, the envelope may print incorrectly if you add it to the document and then print it as part of the document. Use the following instructions to make sure the settings in the Printing Options dialog box are correct:

From the Tools menu, choose Envelopes And Labels.

Select the Envelopes tab.

Choose the Options button.

Select the Printing Options tab.

Under Feed Method, select the Face Up option.

Choose the Feed Method icon that matches the way the printer accepts envelopes. For the 1200C, this is the third option from the right (right feed, landscape).

In the Feed From text box, select Manual Feed.

Choose OK.

When you use the Envelope Wizard in Publisher 2.0, select "Any printer that's not an HP DeskJet" when the wizard prompts you for the printer type. Use the DeskJet 1200C information from the "Summary" section of this article to respond to the remainder of the Envelope Wizard prompts. When the wizard finishes, do the following:

From the File menu, choose Printer Setup.

Select Manual in the Paper Source list.

Select Envelope COM-10 in the Paper Size list, and then choose OK.
