Setup could not create files on your startup drive and cannot set up Windows. If you have HPFS or Windows NT file system, you must create an MS-DOS boot partition. If you have LANtastic server or SuperStor compression, disable it before running Setup. See SETUP.TXT on Setup Disk 1 or the Windows CD-ROM.

This error can also occur if you try to install the retail version of Windows 95 over an existing installation of OSR2 on a hard disk using the FAT32 file system.

This error message can also occur if you have a FAT32 partition and you are installing Windows 95 (retail version), which only expects FAT16. This error can also occur if you are running EZ Drive and you have the Floppy Boot Protection option enabled in EZ Drive. You should be able to resolve this error by disabling the Floppy Boot Protection option in EZ Drive.

Can be caused by the GoBack (ISV name is WildFile Inc.) program. This program is not an anti-virus program and using the /ir switch does not work with this program. You must disable the program by using the program's interface before you proceed with Setup.

Change Directory

You cannot select another directory when running Windows 95. If you need to install Windows to a different directory, you must run Setup from MS-DOS.

Crosslinked Files

There is a crosslinked file on drive X. Please run SCANDISK.EXE from Setup disk 1 or the Windows CD-ROM to fix the problem. Setup cannot continue.

Directory Already Exists

The directory X already exists. If you continue, files in this directory may be overwritten. Do you want to continue with the specified directory?

Machine Directory

You need to specify a machine directory to continue.

Problem with Drive

There seems to be a problem with drive X. Please run ScanDisk or CHKDSK to fix the problem. Setup cannot continue.

Startup Disk

Create a Startup Disk?
Setup can create a startup disk that you can use to start your computer and run diagnostic programs if Windows 95 is not set up correctly. You will need one floppy disk (at least 1.2 MB).
