SYMPTOMSWhen you use Dial-Up Networking in Windows 95 to dial into a remote network, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSEThis problem can occur when Rasapi32.dll is unable to unload the session management module (SMM) if it returns an error during the early phase of the authentication process. RESOLUTIONThis issue is resolved by the following updated files for Windows 95, and later versions of these files:
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95. An
update to address this problem is now available, but is not fully
regression tested and should be applied only to computers experiencing
this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific
problem, Microsoft does not recommend implementing this update at this
time. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for additional information about
the availability of this update.

This problem seems to occur more often when you are attempting to connect
to MSN, The Microsoft Network, but can also occur when you are connecting
to other remote access servers.
