Universal Serial Bus-Equipped Computer May Hang on Resume

SYMPTOMS

When you try to resume a suspended computer that has a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, your computer may stop responding (hang).

For example, the computer may hang in the following situations:

  • The computer is equipped with a Sleep button, and you use the Sleep button to suspend the computer and then resume it shortly afterward.


  • The computer switches to suspended or "sleeping" mode automatically after a period of inactivity, and you use the Sleep button to resume or "awaken" the computer.



RESOLUTION

This issue is resolved by the following updated file for Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.1 (OSR2.1):


   Usbhub.sys version 4.03.1215, dated 8/29/97 12:15p, 28,448 bytes 



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.1. An update to address this problem is now available, but is not fully regression tested and should be applied only to computers experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft does not recommend implementing this update at this time. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for additional information about the availability of this update.

This issue is resolved in Microsoft Windows 98.
