Err Msg: Parallel Cable on LPT<n> Disconnected

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use Direct Cable Connection to connect to a host computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:

  • Parallel cable on LPT<n> disconnected


  • Cannot find host computer



CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your computer has the same computer name as the host computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the computer name of your computer. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.


  2. Click the Identification tab.


  3. In the Computer Name box, type a unique computer name, and then click OK.


  4. Restart your computer.
