SYMPTOMSWindows 95 may stop responding (hang) if an over current condition is detected from a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device. Over current conditions can occur when a USB device is "hot plugged" (or plugged in while the computer is on) into the computer. CAUSEWindows 95 may not clear the over current status in the USB hardware. This causes Windows 95 to service the same over current condition multiple times. RESOLUTIONThis problem is resolved by the following files for Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.1:

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 95 OEM Service
Release 2.1. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully
regression-tested and should be applied only to computers experiencing
this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific
problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that
contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more
information.
