Windows Changes Color Palette in Microsoft Works

SUMMARY

Microsoft Works uses its own color palette on EGA and VGA color systems. If you run Works under Microsoft Windows, this color palette may change. You can restore the Works palette by doing the following within Works:

1. From the Options menu, choose the Works Settings command.



2. When the Works Settings dialog box appears, press ENTER. This will reset the color palette.

Works chooses 16 colors from a selection of 64 colors on EGA displays, and 16 colors from a selection of 262,144 colors on VGA displays. If you run Works under Windows versions 2.x, 3.0 or 3.0a with a VGA display, the scrolls bars are magenta; inactive windows are bright green; and the desktop color is cyan instead of gray.

On EGA displays, the active window title bar is brown; inactive windows are bright green; and the desktop color is white instead of gray.
