SETUP /N Does Not Create SYSTEM Subdirectory

ID: Q70768

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.1, 3.11

Doing a network installation of Microsoft Windows with the SETUP /N command does not create a SYSTEM subdirectory.

When you install Microsoft Windows on a Local Area Network (LAN) using the SETUP /N command, the Setup program prompts you for a drive and path name. This creates a user directory on the network drive with all the needed files, including files that normally appear in the SYSTEM subdirectory of a single-user installation.
