Sized Graphic Prints Completely in Black with HPPCL5A

SYMPTOMS

When you scale a bitmap graphic in a Windows-based application and print it to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet Series III printer using the HPPCL5A.DRV printer driver, the graphic image may print completely in black.


CAUSE

This is caused by a known problem in the HP LaserJet Series III driver, HPPCL5A.DRV, versions 3.42 through 3.77.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade to a newer driver.


MORE INFORMATION

The HPPCL5A.DRV version 30.3.85 which corrects the problem, ships with Word for Windows 2.0 and the 30.3.86 driver ships with Word for Windows 2.0a.

This problem is also corrected in the version 31.3.89 HPPCL5A.DRV driver that ships with Microsoft Windows version 3.1.
