Generic/Text Only Driver Problems Printing 1.5-Line Spacing

ID: Q81773

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.1, 3.11
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0

SUMMARY

If you use the Microsoft Windows 3.0 Write program with line spacing set at 1.5 and print to a laser or dot-matrix printer using the Generic/Text Only printer driver version 3.0, your document does not print correctly. However, it displays correctly on the screen. Both single and double line spacing work correctly.

If you use the Generic/Text Only driver version 3.1 from Windows 3.1 with either a laser or dot-matrix printer, and formatting with spacing set at 1.5, the document appears correctly on the screen but prints double-spaced. Both single and double-line spacing work correctly.

MORE INFORMATION

A document that has been formatted with 1.5-line spacing prints two lines single-spaced, then one line double-spaced, then two lines single-spaced, and continues that pattern until the end of the document is reached.

The following is an example of the printed output for single-spaced, 1.5-line spaced, and double-spaced text.
