SYMPTOMS

When the Hewlett-Packard (HP) PaintJet XL is used to print multiple pages from Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or from an application running under Windows 3.1, the second and subsequent pages of the print job print 0.5 inch too high on the page. This problem has been duplicated in both Windows Write and version 2.0 of Microsoft Word for Windows.

WORKAROUND

Print each page of a multiple-page document as a separate print job.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with the PaintJet XL printer driver version 1.0 that shipped with Windows version 3.1. This problem has been corrected and does not occur in later versions of the driver.

An updated printer driver (HPPJET.EXE) that supports the HP PaintJet and HP PaintJet XL printers is available from Hewlett-Packard.
