Epson 24-Pin Printers: Cannot Switch Between Paper Feeders

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows version 3.1, after you print using the Epson 24-pin printer driver (EPSON24.DRV), you cannot switch between continuous tractor and continuous cut-sheet feeder options on the printer. The printer beeps and goes offline.

WORKAROUND

To stop the beeping, switch the printer back to the original feeder option or turn the printer off and on again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Windows version 3.1 printer driver for Epson 24-pin printers (EPSON24.DRV). We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Changing the paper source options in the Windows printer driver Setup dialog box does not affect this behavior.

This problem does not occur if you print from an MS-DOS prompt. From MS-DOS, you can switch between the continuous tractor and continuous cut-sheet feeder options on the printer without having to turn the printer off and on again.
