Paper Size and Orientation Settings for HP Plotter Dimmed

SYMPTOMS

In some applications running under Microsoft Windows 3.1, the Paper Size and Orientation options for Hewlett-Packard (HP) plotters are dimmed in the Page Setup dialog box.

CAUSE

This happens because the HP Plotter driver is not completely compatible with the common dialog boxes used in Windows 3.1.

WORKAROUND

To set the orientation or paper size, use the settings in the setup dialog box available through Windows Control Panel.

To set the orientation or paper size for HP plotters:

1. Run Windows Control Panel. (Control Panel is usually located in the Main group in Windows Program Manager.)



2. In Windows Control Panel, choose the Printers icon.



3. In the Printers dialog box, select your plotter in Installed Printers list.



4. In the Printers dialog box, choose the Setup button.



5. In the plotter dialog box, select the settings you want, then choose the OK button.



6. In the Printers dialog box, choose the Close button.



7. In Control Panel, choose Exit from the Settings menu.
