Printing Envelopes with the Canon BJ-330

ID: Q94205

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows versions 3.1, 3.11
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c

SUMMARY

By default, the Canon Bubble-Jet BJ-330 driver (CANON330.DRV) expects you to feed envelopes in landscape orientation through the manual feed.

To load envelopes in landscape orientation, do the following:

  1. Move the paper-feeding selection bar on the top right of the printer to the upper (friction) position.

  2. Reset the printer by pressing the first two buttons on the front panel simultaneously. (This clears anything left in the printer buffer from previous attempts.)

  3. On the front of the printer, locate the manual feed guide. Slide this guide to the correct envelope position.

  4. Feed the envelope face up with the bottom of the envelope against the manual feed guide (the left half of the envelope feeds into the printer first).

  5. Press the LOAD/EJECT button to load the envelope and put the printer online.

  6. Print from your application.

MORE INFORMATION

If you want to print envelopes in portrait orientation from Word for Windows, add the following printer heuristic line to the [Microsoft Word 2.0] section of your Windows WIN.INI file:

CANON330=+1
After you set this printer heuristic, use the above instructions for loading an envelope in landscape orientation, but feed the envelope face up with the top of the envelope feeding into the printer first.

NOTE: New settings only take effect when you create a new envelope in Word. Envelopes you created and added to your document prior to setting the above printer heuristic continue to print in landscape orientation.
