  • Windows General Protection (GP) fault error occurs when you print to Aldus Photostyler.


  • GP Fault error occurs when you print very small bitmaps.


  • Driver uses incorrect extended characters for device fonts when you print a page that contains both TrueType and device fonts.


  • GP Fault error occurs when using the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet Series II printer driver with the resolution set at 75 DPI.

NOTE: UNIDRV.DLL version 3.1.2 now supports the HP LaserJet Series III family of printers by allowing scalable fonts. Prior to version 3.1.2, the HP LaserJet Series III family printer driver (HPPCL5A.DRV) did not use the Universal Printer Driver.

Special Note About Color Dot Matrix Printers

When printing in color to a dot matrix printer, incorrect colors may print. For example, black may print as light blue, light blue may print as dark blue, and so forth.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with all the above versions of the Universal Printer Driver. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
